In response to their business plan, the School made the decision to consolidate, and physically link the Key Stage 1 and 2 teaching facilities to form the newly named ‘Junior School’. The brief placed emphasis on the integration and enhancement of key stage 1 and 2 facilities and making it easier for pupils to move between their lessons. 

 

The new reception made the physical ‘link’ between the Key Stage 1 and 2 buildings and increased the security of the wider school through access control systems. The reception provides a waiting area, offices and an accessible visitor WC. These are surrounded by refurbished and updated office facilities which have removed duplication within the two separate buildings, improving efficiency and comfort for staff.

 

As well as fulfilling the functional and technical requirements of the school, the brief requested the Head’s office to provide a high level of comfort for visitors and parents. The new reception facilities would do the same whilst creating a statement entrance to rival other independent schools.
