The Mall School

Project: New Theatre and Art Classroom

Client: The Mall School

Location: Hampton, London

BHM were asked to consider how to create a performing arts centre and much needed teaching spaces on the School’s extremely constricted urban site. Following detailed negotiation with Richmond Planning, BHM were able to build a site from existing fabric owned by the School, including the footprints of three dilapidated shop units and their back gardens. Weaving the new accommodation between the School’s existing buildings, and incorporating a historic stable block, BHM created a 176 seat theatre, a design and technology classroom and a first floor art room all interconnected by spacious, naturally lit corridors.
