Maida Vale School

Project: Refurbishment of a Victorian School

Client: Gardener Schools

Location: Maida Vale, London

In 2019, BHM Architects were commissioned to create a new school within an existing Victorian school building in West London. Following a comprehensive 12-month refurbishment, Maida Vale School opened its doors to pupils for the first time in September 2020.

BHM Architects took advantage of the existing large windows and high ceilings to provide the school with science labs, technology and art classrooms, study rooms, staff offices, music, peripatetic and band practice rooms, dance and drama studios, a theatre hall, a library and learning centre, as well as a food technology classroom, new kitchens and dining facilities.

The complete interior design and fit-out were also within BHM Architect’s remit. This included the design of some of the furniture and signage.

BHM Architects continue to work with Gardener Schools on their other school buildings at Ravenscourt Park Preparatory School, Kew House School and Kew Green School.
