The School approached BHM Architects with a brief to deliver general teaching and specialist music spaces, offices, a meeting room, ancillary and support spaces and a school theatre to seat 200 people.

 

BHM Architects faced several challenges as a direct result of the proposed confined site which was just 32m facing Inverness Street, tapering to 11m at the rear. This included direct access from Inverness Street only and party wall agreements with various neighbours.

 

BHM's design also needed to complement the surrounding buildings and satisfy their occupant’s needs without compromising the School's security. All these challenges led to detailed negotiations between BHM Architects, the planning authority, the neighbours - and their party wall advisors – and the contractor.
